Glass fronted cabinets traditionally sit in the living room with all the best family china and crystal on show. The display puts on a good front. In this cabinet the family crystal lies in a beautiful broken carpet at its base. The china figurines on display are disturbing new creatures, half benign, half malevolent. This installation tells a story of broken and distorted memories, the result of family breakdown. Joseph Cornell’s box dioramas inspired this work.
